In light of recent failures by the Roxbury Community College of Roxbury, Massachusetts (“RCC”) administration in the handling of allegations of sexual assaults on campus, the school will now strengthen its security policies and provide more detailed training to faculty and staff.
At the request of RCC’s Board of Trustees, following former school President Terrence Gomes’s resignation this past summer in the midst of state investigations, the Boston law firm, Goodwin Procter, issued the report detailing the school’s deficiencies.
The report indicated that RCC had serious problems in its controls, policies, training and organization that left the school inadequately prepared to respond to crimes on campus, particularly sexual assaults.
In addition to the rampant failures of the school in handling and investigating sexual assault allegations, the report also suggested that RCC may have offered one student financial aid in return for her silence over a sexual assault perpetrated by a faculty member.
