A growing number of women speaking out against sexual harassment has given new light to an issue that has unfortunately been ubiquitous in our society for a number of years. This has led to an increased awareness of the issue, and as a result, more and more people, women and men alike, have taken it upon themselves to try and combat what they perceive to be a systemic, cultural issue. In such a situation, it would be wise to contact an expert sexual harassment attorney at 617-787-3700.
A years-long sexual harassment lawsuit filed against then-Chief of the Princeton, New Jersey Police Department, David Dudeck, has resulted in a settlement that will yield nearly $4 million to seven members of the department. The officers originally filed the suit in 2013, claiming that Dudeck fostered a “patently abusive [environment] and created a hostile work environment at the Princeton Police Department, with such acts of gender discrimination, sexual orientation discrimination, disability discrimination and sexual harassment.”
Dudeck also allegedly told a number of these officers that speaking out against him would result in “career suicide,” according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit identifies a large number of incidents in which Dudeck acted inappropriately, using foul language, lewd hand gestures, and even physical contact. The officers were represented by Attorney Matthew A. Peluso of Pisciano and Scahill P.C.
