Elmo Actor Resigns From Sesame Street Amid Sex Abuse Allegations.

According to a sexual abuse and sexual assault lawsuit filed in federal court in New York against actor Kevin Clash, the children’s performer who created the voice and persona of Elmo on Sesame Street allegedly preyed, for a number of years, upon vulnerable teenage boys to satisfy his depraved sexual desires.

Amid these sexual abuse allegations, Clash resigned from the children’s show.

One of the accusers is Cecil Singleton, who claims that Clash approached him on a gay chat line in the 1990s and first initiated sexual contact with him when Singleton was only 15 years-old.

According to the allegations of the lawsuit, Clash coerced and enticed Singleton to meet him for sex by taking him out to fancy dinners and giving him money.

Another accuser also leveled sex abuse allegations against Clash, but later recanted his sexual assault claim. However, Clash did acknowledge that he had a relationship with this first accuser, saying it was consensual sex between two adults.
