27 year-old Connie McGinniss was the only female officer in the Telford Borough, Pennsylvania Police Department before she was fired in 2010. According to McGinniss’s lawsuit, she experienced sexual harassment, including “stalking, peeping, and explicit language and pornographic displays belittling women.”
McGinniss reported the alleged sexual harassment to her supervisors, but her employers did not act on the report. McGinniss’s hours were then reduced so severely that her salary dropped from $28,000 a year to $12,000 a year.
McGinniss was fired after she issued a ticket that Police Chief Randall Floyd told her not to issue. But she believes that she was fired in retaliation for reporting the sexual harassment that she had experienced during her employment.
